There’s something magical about turning a written scene into an image. Especially when it’s one packed with tension and meaning, like this one from chapter 6 of my Jujutsu Kaisen fanfic. That was the scene that inspired me to create this digital artwork in Photoshop.
“He pulled my revolver from his pocket again and handed it to me, grip first. It was a simple gesture, but hard to believe.”
This part always gets my heart racing. Seeing the two of them — Dandara and Gojo — face to face… she’s still reeling from everything that’s happened, and he just gives the gun back. No judgment, no threats. Just trust. Something Dandara isn’t exactly used to.
The emotional tension between them is almost tangible — more on her side than his, of course, because our dear sensei seems to be having the time of his life.
And that’s exactly what I wanted to capture in the artwork.
Did I manage to do that?
The creative process
Lighting was one of the biggest challenges. I wanted the lantern light to reflect off of them, creating that almost cinematic mood — part shadow, part revelation. I still have a lot to learn about lighting, but I’m proud of what I was able to experiment with here.
Another obstacle was illustrating the height difference between them. Gojo has this commanding presence, while Dandara is smaller, but full of inner strength. I wanted that contrast to be clear without looking awkward or disproportionate. It wasn’t easy, especially from the angle I chose — but that contrast ended up being one of the most interesting elements of the composition.
To pose Dandara, I used the Poseit app, which helped me shape the silhouette and body positioning. For Gojo, I drew inspiration from an iconic moment: the final scene from part one of the anime’s second season. His expression, his relaxed yet protective vibe — it was exactly what I needed.
Step-by-step creation
Below, I’ll show the full step-by-step process, from the first sketches to the final Photoshop render. I love sharing this kind of behind-the-scenes look because creating is also about trial, error, and trying again until you reach that moment when you know: this is it.

And now I’d love to know: what did you think of the artwork?
Did I manage to convey the emotion of the scene? Did the composition draw you in?
What would you change?
I’m always looking to improve — and it’s such a joy to share this journey with people who follow my creative delusions. 💫
