It’s been a while since I started losing interest in Harry Potter, especially after the author became involved in several controversies — the most serious, sadly, being transphobia. That really distanced me from a universe that had, for so many years, been a source of inspiration.
However, a very dear friend of mine wrote a fanfic set precisely in that same universe. Out of love for her, I decided to give it a try — and to my surprise, I was hooked from the very first chapter.
The story follows Roseh Lestrange, a Slytherin student with a dark past. She is the daughter of one of the series’ most notorious villains: Bellatrix Lestrange. At Hogwarts, despite the heavy prejudice tied to her surname, she discovers things she never imagined — including the true meaning of friendship.
Published on Wattpad, the fanfic is a full sensory experience: beyond the engaging narrative, it features art, images, music, videos, and other surprises that make the reading journey even more immersive.
This character touched me in a special way. And because I love this friend so much — who has, by the way, drawn my OC twice with such care — I felt it was time to return the favor. So I created a fanart inspired by the story, bringing to life my own vision of Roseh Lestrange.
Roseh is stunning! I immediately pictured her resembling her mother — a striking and memorable character — with long, dark, curly, and wild hair, piercing blue eyes, and a delicate, almost ethereal face.
I’ve always found Slytherin to be the most fascinating house at Hogwarts, but through Roseh’s perspective, that fascination grows even deeper. It’s such a joy to imagine her housemates and what life must have been like within that shared space — especially in the aftermath of the famous wizarding war.
Roseh carries the weight of a dark legacy and must face the traumas of her past while forging a path of her own.
Returning to Hogwarts through this fanfic felt like reliving the magic of the first time I watched the saga — a nostalgic, enchanting, and at the same time, renewed experience.
Below, I share the step-by-step process of creating this fanart in Photoshop — my tribute to an amazing character, born from the brilliant mind of a talented friend who reminded me to believe in the magic of stories once again.
